RIDGEWOOD
STEAK THIEF SLASHES
STORE WORKER WITH
NEEDLE
A Brooklyn man remains locked up
on high bail aft er allegedly slashing
a Ridgewood supermarket employee
with a hypodermic needle while attempting
to steal a bunch of steaks on
Saturday night.
Law enforcement sources said that
Angelo Adorno, 57, of Grove Street
in Bushwick allegedly pilfered four
steaks worth a combined $50 from the
Fresh N Save supermarket located at
60-16 Myrtle Ave. at about 6:42 p.m. on
Aug. 4.
According to the criminal complaint
that the Queens District Attorney’s offi
ce provided, a security guard at the
store noticed Adorno allegedly placing
the steaks in a bag he was carrying,
then walking up to the cashier and
only paying for a loaf of bread.
Upon exiting the store, authorities
said, a store employee and the security
guard followed Adorno and eventually
confronted him in front of a home on
Summerfi eld Street, just around the
corner from the supermarket.
When the store employee demanded
the steaks back, police said, Adorno
allegedly struck him in the torso with
a hypodermic needle, causing a slash
wound. The employee and security
guard, however, managed to detain
Adorno until 104th Precinct offi cers
arrived at the scene.
The slashed store employee was
brought to a local hospital for treatment
of injuries that were not considered
life-threatening.
Cops recovered the stolen steaks
from a bag found in Adorno’s
possession.
Police arrested Adorno on charges
of fi rst- and second-degree robbery,
criminal possession of stolen property
and criminal possession of a weapon.
Following his arraignment on Aug. 5,
Adorno was ordered held on $75,000
cash or $50,000 bond; he’s due back in
court on Aug. 10.

GROUP VICIOUSLY
BEATS MAN WITH
STICKS AND SWORD
Police released on Monday video
footage of four armed men who
mercilessly pounded a victim with
sticks and a sword during a bloody
assault in Richmond Hill early on
Sunday morning.
Law enforcement sources said the
violence erupted at 6:38 a.m. on Aug. 5,
when the 26-year-old male victim was
approached by the foursome in front
of a home on 123rd Street just south of
101st Avenue.
According to authorities, one of the
four suspects displayed a gun and

then pounced.
Cops said the perpetrators bashed
and gashed the victim repeatedly with
wooden sticks and a sword, causing
numerous head, arm and back lacerations.
The group fl ed a short time later
on foot, heading southbound on 123rd
Street toward 103rd Avenue.
Offi cers from the 102nd Precinct
and EMS units responded to the scene.
Paramedics rushed the victim to
Jamaica Hospital, where he was listed
in stable condition.
Sources familiar with the investigation
indicated that the assault
appeared to be unprovoked, but that
while the attackers were known to
the victim, he could not provide their
names or addresses to detectives.
Police, however, did obtain security
camera footage showing the violent
assault. The NYPD described the four
attackers as Asian men with dark complexions
