For F Line In Queens Manhattan-bound F trains will run local service between 71st- Continental Avenues and Roosevelt Avenue on Friday, Aug. 8, from 12:01 until 5 a.m. These trains will stop at 67th Avenue, 63rd Drive, Woodhaven Boulevard, Grand Avenue and Elmhurst Avenue. Skipped Stops On 7 Line This Weekend Manhattan-bound 7 trains will skip the 111th Street, 103rd Street, 90th Street and 82nd Street stations this weekend, from 11:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11. These trains will continue to stop at Junction Boulevard. For service to the skipped stations, take the 7 train to Junction Boulevard or 74th Street, then transfer to a Flushing-bound 7 train. For service from these stations, take the 7 train to Junction Boulevard or Mets-Willets Point, then transfer to a Manhattanbound 7 train. Fastrack Repairs Affect A, C, E & M The MTA’s Fastrack service and maintenance program will affect A, C, E and M train service late nights on Monday, Aug. 11, through Friday, Aug. 15, from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. E trains will run on the M line between 71st-Continental Avenues and 34th Street-Herald Square, and on the F line between 34th Street-Herald Square and Second Avenue, which will be the last stop. TRAFFIC NEWS and Updates New York City Department Of Transportation No Street Cleaning On Friday, Aug. 15 Alternate side parking rules will be suspended next Friday, Aug. 15, in observance of the Christian Feast of the Assumption. Meter regulations, however, will remain in effect. * * * Because of ongoing construction work at several locations throughout Queens and Brooklyn, the city DOT has announced numerous street closures in local neighborhoods for the upcoming week. The announced diversions are current as of Wednesday, Aug. 6, and weather permitting. The DOT may shut down other roads should the need for emergency repairs arise. Streets and highways that are affected by closures during this week include the following: Grand St. Bridge Closed Saturday The Grand Street Bridge over the Newtown Creek will be closed in both directions on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. for mechanical and electrical repairs. Drivers are advised to use Metropolitan and Flushing avenues as alternate routes between Brooklyn and Queens while the closure is underway. Street Resurfacing In Kew Gardens Weather permitting, DOT crews will conduct nighttime paving along Metropolitan Avenue between Union Turnpike and Lefferts Boulevard in Kew Gardens on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 7-8. Parking is prohibited on these streets during work hours; all vehicles found parked will be towed away at the owner’s expense. Lane Closures On Van Wyck Expwy. One of three lanes in each direction of the Van Wyck Expressway between Jewel Avenue and Union Turnpike may be closed on Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. due to construction work related to the Kew Gardens rehabilitation project. Additionally, up to two lanes in either direction of the expressway in the same section may be closed on overnights from 1 to 5 a.m. Kew Gdns. Project Affects Union Tpke. Long-term construction related to the state Department of Transportation’s Kew Gardens Interchange project will require the right lane of Union Turnpike -SEE TRAFFIC ON PG. 56- the M line between 47th-50th Streets and Roosevelt Avenue this weekend, from 9:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11. As a result, Jamaica-bound F train service will not be available at the 57th Street, Lexington Avenue-63rd Street, Roosevelt Island and 21st Street-Queensbridge stations. For service to these stops, take the F train to Roosevelt Avenue, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound F train. For service from these stations, take the F train to 47th-50th Streets, then transfer to a Jamaica-bound F train. It was noted that R train service will be extended to the Jamaica-179th Street F train station all this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Sandy Repairs Close G Train Bet. LIC & Bk. As part of the MTA’s Fix & Fortify Hurricane Sandy repair program, G train service between Court Square and Nassau Avenue is suspended through 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2. During this period, G trains will operate normally between Nassau Avenue and Church Avenue. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service on two routes. One shuttle bus will run along Manhattan Avenue between Nassau Avenue and Court Square, stopping near the closed G train stations. Another shuttle bus will run along McGuiness Boulevard between Court Square and the Lorimer Street G/L train station, making stops near G train stations.
