Holding six concerts during the summer, he said, will offset these costs and provide funds for additional maintenance such as a new fence around the perimeter. Last year, the club’s concert promoters—Mike Lupa and John McMillan—organized the stadium’s first concert in 20 years, when folk group Mumford and Sons played at the stadium in August. Frances Ludwigson, who taught first grade at Our Lady of Hope School, was dismissed from her position last October after 16 years of employment. Earlier this year, she filed a lawsuit against the school, its top administrators and the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens, claiming that she lost her job in retaliation for lodging a sexual harassment complaint against a custodian. The Times Newsweekly received a copy of the lawsuit, which was filed in U.S. District Court in Brooklyn in February, and the formal legal response from attorneys representing the defendants, filed by the court last Monday, Apr. 21. -SEE LAWSUIT ON PG. 52- Waking Up To Find Fire In Maspeth Flames ignited inside a closed storefront in Maspeth during a one-alarm fire early last Wednesday morning, Apr. 23, Fire Department sources said. Reportedly, the blaze broke out at about 4:30 a.m. inside Dicatagua Wholesale Corp. located at 65- 31 Grand Ave. According to sources, residents inside the apartment above the shop smelled smoke and reported it immediately to 911. Members of Squad Co. 288, Engine companies 291 and 287, Ladder companies 136, 140 and 124, Battalion 46 and Rescue 4 responded to the scene and discovered the blaze inside the storefront.
