Reichelt died after a brief illness at Vermont Medical Center, Burlington, Vermont on 2/21/16. Anita was born in Queens, NY and was a lifelong resident. Anita was the daughter of German immigrant parents and German was her first language. Anita was proud of her German heritage. After high school, Anita continued her education and eventually received a Master’s Degree in Social Work and became an L.C.S.W. Anita worked for many years for the NYC school system as a social worker and retired in 2006. Anita loved spending time in her cabin in upstate New York. She chose to live her final days there. Throughout her life, Anita traveled extensively and made many friends. She was also a frequent visitor to auctions and flea markets where she added to her many collections. She was a lifelong parishioner at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Middle Village, NY. Anita had a big heart when it came to animals. She was always willing to take in an abandoned dog or cat. Anita volunteered at local animal shelters and frequently walked dogs for them. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Sophie Reichelt, and her brothers Dr. Walter E. Reichelt, and Karl Reichelt. Anita is survived by her nephew Robert Reichelt of Rockaway, NJ, and nieces Lorraine Voytko of Estero, FL, Doris Novak of Rockaway, NJ and Linda Smith of Rockaway, NJ. Anita is also survived by her Goddaughter Bonnie Smith and great niece Lisette Voytko of Brooklyn, NY and great nephews Jacob Voytko of NYC, NY and Jerry K. Smith of Rockaway, NJ. Interment will be at Lutheran All Faiths Cemetery on March 5, 2016. A Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 63-70 Dry Harbor Rd, Middle Village, NY 11379, Phone 1- 718-335-7300 Please check with Church calendar to confirm tentative date of Sat, June 11 2016.
