Victim by Anthony Giudice A Queens man has pleaded guilty to one count of seconddegree burglary and will serve six years in prison, Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown announced last Thursday, Jan. 29. The defendant, identified as Randolph Ardila, 30, of 57th Drive in Maspeth, appeared in court last Thursday in front of Queens Supreme Court Justice Richard L. Buchter and pleaded guilty for his involvement in a series of residential break-ins last February. In one of the incidents, police said, a box of cremated remains was stolen. “The defendant has admitted his guilt and will be held accountable for his actions,” Brown said. “The sentence to be imposed by the court is a just resolution of the matter and demonstrates my office’s continued commitment to prosecuting and punishing those involved in burglarizing the homes of Queens County residents.” According to the charges, Ardila acted as a lookout on Feb. 21, 2014 while two individuals who were not apprehended attempted to burglarize residences on 77th Avenue in Glendale. Pry marks that were made with a screwdriver-like tool were observed on the front door. At approximately 4:50 p.m. on the above mentioned date, police allegedly observed two people enter an apartment building on 103rd Avenue in Ozone Park while Ardila parked a grey BMW close to the building. Ardila then exited the vehicle and acted as a lookout. Shortly thereafter, three people left the building, two carried bags. One of the bags was placed in the BMW that Ardila was driving. The other individuals allegedly entered a blue Honda before both cars drove away. When Ardila was arrested, he was carrying a blue plastic container filled with change and a $20 bill, which had been reported missing from the Ozone -SEE BURGLAR ON PG. 23- ©Times Newsweekly - 2014 - UNIDENT
