It’s In Queens! News From The Queens Tourism Council In a clear sign of the season, all upcoming events in Queens are indoors. However, they remain as diverse as always. Options include learning about Islam, South Africa, and animation; listening to live Irish music or jazz; and making jewelry, crayons, and rap music. Here’s the rundown. • Tonight (Thursday), Feb. 5, Opening: South African Art, 6 p.m. Queens College explores South Africa over the next few months with art exhibits, dances, films, roundtable discussions, and lectures. Les Payne, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who covered Apartheid era uprisings in black townships, gives a gallery talk before displaying his collection on opening night.
