there are still many people
in need throughout the
borough.
State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo
Jr. is hosting a Valentine’s Day

and the Sacred Heart Food Pantry
in Glendale.
The Zion Tabernacle Food

each location is in need of
cleaning supplies such as laundry

as well as residents who are in
need of assistance.
Items for the food drive can be
dropped off at Addabbo’s offi ces

drop off the donations on Feb. 14.
“The community is great at
coming together to help the less
fortunate during the holiday

have passed, there is still a need.
That is why I partnered with
these local food pantries for this
Valentine’s Day food drive,” said
Addabbo. “We will be collecting

my Middle Village offi ce. There

The Chili's restaurant at The
Shops at Atlas Park in Glendale
is open once again aft er Health
Department inspectors ordered the
location to close on Jan. 25 due to a
major violation.
A manager at the Chili's confi rmed
the restaurant's reopening on Jan. 31,
but provided no further details about
what happened or how the location
was able to resolve the issue.
As of Jan. 25, Chili's was hit with a
bright yellow sign on its front door to
notify the public that it was closed by
order of the commissioner of health
and mental hygiene. The eatery has a
history of Health Department violations
and ungraded inspections.
According to a spokesperson from
the Department of Health and Mental
Hygiene, the Chili's was inspected on Jan.
25 and ordered closed due to a violation
that could not be corrected at the time of
inspection. The violation had to do with
a sewer issue, the spokesperson said.
Prior to the Jan.25 inspection, the
most recent inspection of Chili's listed
in the Department of Health's online
records is from Nov. 28, 2017. That inspection
resulted in 36 points' worth of
violations and is shown as an ungraded
inspection, meaning it did not get a
letter grade. Three of the infractions
are seen as critical violations:
Food Protection Certifi cate not held
by supervisor of food operations.

vermin to exist, food contact surfaces
not properly maintained and nonfood
contact surfaces improperly
constructed.
The Chili's in Atlas Park has four ungraded
inspections dating back to 2015,
the worst of which racked up 47 points
in violations on July 29, 2015. During
that inspection, Chili's had the same
critical violations listed above, as well
as two additional critical violations
for a cold food item held above 41 degrees
Fahrenheit and an appropriate
thermometer not present or used to
evaluate food conditions.
According to the Health Department's
grading system, restaurants
with a score between 0 and 13 points
earn an A, those with 14 to 27 points
receive a B and those with 28 or more
get a C.
Chili's had a B rating as of April 8,
2017, its most recent graded inspection.
