program tops the
Board 5 agenda
The city’s organics trash collection
program and an overview
of the Ridgewood Reservoir top
the agenda at the next Community
Board 5 meeting in Middle Village this
Wednesday night.
As announced by District Manager
Gary Giordano, the session takes
place on a special date, Feb. 7, at 7:30
p.m. in the cafeteria of Christ the
King High School, located at 68-02
Metropolitan Ave. Normally held the
second Wednesday each month, Board
5 moved up its meeting date this month
due to Ash Wednesday and Valentine’s
Day falling on Feb. 14.
Two presentations will lead off the
Feb. 7 meeting. First, representatives
of the Sanitation Department will talk
about planned changes to the organics
collection program currently in place
in parts of the Board 5 area.
Then, Matt Malina, director of NYCH2O,
will take the microphone to talk
about the Ridgewood Reservoir and
eff orts to conserve the 55-acre site on
the Glendale/Brooklyn border.
Following the presentations, Board
5 will commence with its regular agenda,
which includes the public forum;
an overview of liquor license applications
and demolition notices; reports
by Chairperson Vincent Arcuri and
District Manager Gary Giordano; and
committee reports.
Board 5 will also review its Executive
Committee’s recommendations
regarding proposed street festivals
scheduled for later this year.
