Apply Now To Get City Cash In 2016 Van Bramer Makes Budget Push In an announcement on his personal website last Friday, Jan. 9, Van Bramer invited the public to complete and submit online applications for City Council funds for the 2016 fiscal year, which begins on July 1. Residents and nonprofits in the 26th District—which includes areas of Astoria, Long Island City, Sunnyside and Woodside— can apply for funds in the city’s capital or expense budgets, which focuses on construction projects or services, respectively. They can also directly seek funds from the city’s Department of Cultural Affairs’ Cultural Development Fund (CDF). Groups seeking CDF allocations must complete an online application and provide supplemental materials to the city by no later than Monday, Feb. 9. The deadline to file expense budget requests is Friday, Feb. 20; the non-city capital allocation deadline is 5 p.m. on Mar. 26. Anyone seeking assistance in completing online budget applications can learn more during a special training workshop scheduled for next Thursday, Jan. 22, at 6:30 p.m. at LaGuardia Community College, located at 31-10 Thomson Ave., Room E-501, in Long Island City.
