GRANT TO HELP STOP SCHEMES Will Boost Fight Against Ins. Fraud In Qns. The grant was awarded by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services and is a critical component in combating vehicle theft in Queens County. “The state funding that we are receiving will significantly enhance our efforts to go after those who would steal vehicles and auto parts from hard-working Queens residents and those who would scheme to defraud insurance companies,” Brown said. The unit has also worked hard to combat other crimes such as vehicle dismantling and vehicle identification laundering operations, as well as steal-fororder and steal-for scrap schemes. In addition to stopping car thefts and other auto crime plots, the unit has made advances in ending auto insurance fraud by getting rid of many large-scale TIMES, THURSDAY, JANUARY 15, 2015 • 10 by Anthony Giudice The Queens District Attorney’s office received a $556,000 grant to strengthen its Auto Crime and Insurance Fraud Unit, District Attorney Richard Brown announced last Thursday, Jan. 8. -SEE GRANT ON PG. 28- SUBSCRIBE TO THE Times Newsweekly Established in 1908 as Ridgewood Times Serving All Queens And Brooklyn + BEST Community Coverage + LARGEST Classified Pages + MORE Local Features & Columns FOR ONLY $2500 You Can Get The Times NewsweeklyMailed To Your Home For 52 Weeks ($30.00 Outside Queens & Brooklyn) FILL IN COUPON AND MAIL WITH CHECK NAME__________________________________________ ADDRESS______________________________________ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ CITY___________________________ ZIP_____________ PHONE_______________________________________________ (circle one) NEW SUBSCRIPTION RENEWAL WE ACCEPT ALL MAJOR CREDIT CARDS CALL 1-718-821-7500 Times Newsweekly P.O.
