Law enforcement sources said the trouble began at about 8:07 p.m. inside a home on Hancock Street near Wilson Avenue. Members of the 83rd Precinct were called to the scene after receiving a 911 report of a domestic assault. Upon arriving at the location, authorities said, the officers encountered 26-year-old Michael Silver, who resides at the address and was observed brandishing a kitchen knife that had a 7”-long blade. When the officers verbally ordered Silver to drop the weapon, police noted, the suspect allegedly raised the knife and advanced toward them. One of the officers then discharged his firearm, striking Silver in the torso, law enforcement sources noted. EMS units were called to the location, and paramedics rushed Silver to Kings County Hospital Center, where he was listed in stable and guarded condition. The two officers, meanwhile, were brought to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center for treatment of tinnitus. Reportedly, a young woman and her two children were pulled from the home following the incident; neither of them were physically harmed. At bedside, Silver was arrested on multiple assault charges and related counts including assault on a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful imprisonment, menacing, harassment and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
