Th e grand shimmering spectacle at 166-04 23rd Ave. is assembled every year by Whitestone residents, the Lynch family. Every day of the week, dozens of awestruck bystanders can be seen taking in the massive display, which features an eclectic collection of characters and thousands of twinkling lights. Santa himself regularly makes an appearance in the upstairs window of the home, seen making his list and checking it twice. Th e family’s light display won $50,000 and bragging rights on the fi rst season of ABC’s “Th e Great Christmas Light Fight.” Every year since then, it has grown bigger and brighter. A collection for St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children — a facility in Bayside that provides health and quality-of-life services for children with special needs and life-limiting conditions — is also set up outside the residence.
