Chef Cosme Aguilar had more than a decade of experience cooking French cuisine but decided to open a Mexican restaurant where he could serve his family’s traditional recipes. Casa Enrique, located at 5-48 49th Ave., has become a hot spot in Long Island City since it opened in September 2014. The 2017 Michelin Guide will be released on Oct. 17, but Eater was able to buy the guide book at a bookstore a few days early. In its 2015 review, the guide book said the restaurant “churns out a host of faithful, consistently fl avorful, and enjoyable eats.” It praised Aguilar’s “incredible house salsas,” its guacamole and dishes such as posole de mi tia, a Hominy pork soup with oregano, radish, onion, lettuce and avocado and chiles rellenos, chili poblano stuffed with chihuahua cheese, tomato sauce and rice. A total of 61 restaurants were awarded one star; 10 restaurants received two stars; and and six restaurants were awarded three stars. Casa Enrique was the only Queens restaurant on the list. “We are excited, grateful and honored to receive a One Star Michelin Star rating for our third year in a row,” a statement on the restaurant’s Facebook page read. “Thank you to Michelin Guide, our talented Chef Cosme Aguilar and our amazing family.” Casa Enrique is open Monday and Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday from 5 to 11:30 p.m. On weekends, it is open for brunch and lunch from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 11:30 p.m. The restaurant closes at 11 p.m. on Sunday.
