The Douglaston/Little Neck Library’s Open Mic is held every month with the next one scheduled for December 19, 2016. Performers are asked to come prepared with five minutes of material. All levels are welcome. You’re sure to have a good time! Stossel A VIRTUAL WALKING TOUR OF MATINECOCK NATIVE AMERICAN HISTORIC SITES Author and historian Donna “Gentle Spirit” Barron of the Little Neck Matinecock Native American community and Tecumseh Ceaser of the Matinecock Tribal Nation’s Turkey Clan will present a virtual walking tour of the many local sites described in Ms. Barron’s books on the history of the Matinecock Nation of Queens and Long Island. Joining them in their discussion will be Harry Wallace, Chief of the Unkechaug Nation of the Poospatuck Indian Reservation in Mastic, Long Island, and Osceola Townsend, Chief of the Matinecock Nation. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. Light refreshments will be served. Seating is limited; first-come, first served. ADMISSION IS FREE.
