Senior adviser Haydee Recinos guided the students, who spent the morning raking, weeding and planting bulbs. The program is coordinated with the Parks Department by Bob Harris, Benny Wong and Rosa Wong from West Cunningham Park Civic Association and Kitty Azhar of Friends of Cunningham Park. Volunteers from I.S. 74 and Stuyvesant High School also participated, as well as Councilman Barry Grodenchik. Acting Brian Hills from the PAL Acting program is shown speaking to students in the auditorium of Martin Van Buren High School, Queens Village. Mr. Hills is recruiting teenagers to take part in the New Developmental Theatre Program at the PAL William J. Duncan Center in New York, New York. Students would meet between 4:15 to 6:30 p.m. once a week to participate in different theatrical activities. COSA Brian Greenspan at Martin Van Buren High School arranged the meeting. Scholars Freshman are shown visiting the Scholars Lounge in Martin Van Buren High School, Queens Village where members of the Scholars Program can come to socialize, relax and enjoy snacks. Students with an average of at least 88, good grades and who perform community service can be admitted to the program. Adviser to the Scholars and ARISTA Pamela Fried decided to invite freshman into the program after they have completed their first term of their freshman year and proves their academic ability.
