FRANCIS PREP WALKS FOR FUTURE On Friday morning, October 23rd, the St. Francis Prep Community, cheered on by our Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Cheerlreaders, will walk through neighboring Cunningham Park to help raise money for the now 157 year old school. The Annual Walk-A-Thon is part of Prep’s continued commitment to ensuring that future generations of students can learn and grow in the best possible facilities availble. In all, nearly 2,700 people, including alumni will be involved in the event. This is Prep’s fifth Walk-AThon, with the previous four each raising over a quarter of a million dollars. Over the last many years, Prep has upgraded its infrastructure, built an athletic training/ fitness center and an Art Education facility, as well as expanded its cafeteria. Last year, Prep unveiled its new, state-of-the-art Science Labs. Next up, our state-of-the-art Music facilities, to house one of the best programs in New York City, the cultural capital of the world. In fact, Prep was the first school EVER to earn the Middle States Association’s Music Credential, which is “aimed at recognizing only those schools with the most sophisticated programs and the highest goals in music education.” Our Walk-A-Thon exemplifies the Mission and culture of Prep. In other words, coming together as a community to help others. In this case, our current and future students. Anyone can help raise money to ensure Prep continues to deliver the best possible educational program, taught by award winning and publicly recognized educators who are fully dedicated to ensuring their students grow to become the stewards of their time.
