7 Maple Grove Cemetery in Kew
Gardens is one of Queens’
most historic sites, as it is the final
resting place for many notable figures
in local and national history.
You can learn more about some of
them during “Spirits Alive!” hosted by
the Friends of Maple Grove Cemetery.
It’s a self-guided walking tour with
over 20 actors in period costumes
portraying the roles of the cemetery’s
most illustrious & historical figures,
recounting tales of their lives through
memories and speeches including
many new discoveries. Free admission;
donations suggested. Visitors
encouraged to wear period costumes.

8 Sashay your way to the
Knockdown Center in
Maspeth this weekend for
“Bushwig,” Brooklyn’s annual festival
of Drag, queer performance &
music. The two-day festival features
more than 150 performers, pop-up
vendors, food and drink, music and
other entertainment. Thousands are
expected to attend, and organizers
will have free shuttle buses operating
between the Knockdown Center and
the Jefferson Street L train. Must be 21
