Serving up a fun time for all at Arthur Ashe Kids Day

As the world’s greatest tennis players
converged in Queens for the U.S. Open,
the United States Tennis Association
kicked off the two-week tournament in
grand style with “Arthur Ashe Kids Day”
on Aug. 26.
Th e annual tradition gives children
from LeFrak City and other parts of the
fi ve boroughs a chance to enjoy a day of
music, fun, games and tennis at the Billie
Jean King National Tennis Center in
Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Aimed
at promoting youth tennis and honoring
one of the game’s greatest players, Arthur
Ashe Kids Day featured the launch of the
USTA’s new ‘Net Generation’ tennis initiative.
Star players Roger Federer, Rafael
Nadal, Angelique Kerber and Venus
Williams were among those on hand for
the event. Th e day featured musical performances
on the Arthur Ashe Stadium
court by pop artists Sofi a Carson, Jack &
Jack, Alex Aiono, Why Don’t We, Saving
Forever, New Hope Club and Spencer
Sutherland.
