Kids hit the courts during the US Open’s fourth annual ‘Queens Day’

Th e U.S. Open was serving up fun in
Flushing with kids from around Queens.
On Wednesday, Aug. 24, kids from
around the borough gathered at the
USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis
Center for the U.S. Open’s fourth annual
“Queens Day.”
Th e day featured a number of activities
for kids to take part in, including a tennis
clinic hosted by 2016 Rio Olympic Gold
Medalist Monica Puig.
Children who participated in the clinic
came from Th e Child Center of NY
and Elmcor Youth & Adult Activities
Community Center. Th e clinic was a part
of the U.S. Open’s “Returning the Love”
initiative, which reaches out to and welcomes
the community from these organizations,
both on and off the court.
Th e day also featured exhibits for kids
and adults from Th e Queens Zoo, Queens
Botanical Gardens, Queens Museum,
