Katz described her as “a talented director with extensive experience in marketing, collaborating on largescale programs and understanding the needs and strengths of a wide breadth of cultural institutions.” Walden Weprin has served as director of marketing and external affairs since 2011 at the Louis Armstrong House Museum in Corona. During her tenure there, she designed and implemented various marketing and program strategies that resulted in a 21 percent increase in museum visitors. She also serves as an executive board member of the Queens Tourism Council and is a pro bono consultant for the Fadeyev Ballet and the Queens Historical Society. She resides in Hollis Hills with her husband and their three children. “I am excited to work for Borough President Katz to support and promote our borough’s world-class cultural arts community and continue to tell this borough’s story to the world,” said Walden Weprin. “The restaurants, hotels, parks and cultural sites of Queens have made Queens an exciting tourist destination for international and regional visitors as well as Queens residents. You can surf at our beaches, picnic in our parks, enjoy sporting events, eat the finest cuisines the world offers and stay in affordable and gorgeous hotels right here in Queens. You don’t need to go anywhere else.” CHARITY HONORS A FINANCIAL LEADER Gerry Schmitt, vice president of the Bethpage Federal Credit Union, is pictured with his son during the UCP of Long Island’s recent golf outing.
