On July 25, at about 12:25 p.m., the suspect made his way into Congregation Adas Yerem through an unknown entrance, police said. Once inside the Metropolitan Avenue synagogue, he took $75 from a donation box before fl eeing. The suspect is described as white, around 5 feet 10 inches tall and 185 pounds. He was last seen wearing a multi-colored striped short-sleeved shirt, beige slacks and beige shoes. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477). Police looking for man who exposed himself on Queens-bound E train A straphanger exposed himself to a woman on an E train as it was approaching a stop in Richmond Hill, cops said. The Queens-bound train was about to enter the station around 10:30 a.m. on July 29 when the 48-year-old woman noticed the man sitting in front of her committing the lewd act, police said. After arriving at the Jamaica-Van Wyck stop, the man fl ed. Police describe the suspect as black, about 35 to 40 years old and around 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black hat and a black-and-white spotted button down shirt. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477). Photo courtesy of NYPD 109TH PRECINCT Flushing, Queensboro Hill, College Point, Malba, Whitestone, Beechhurst and Bay Terrace Body found in Little Bay Park The body of a woman was discovered in a wooded area of a Whitestone park, cops said. A park employee found the badly decomposed remains around 10 a.m. on Aug. 5 in Little Bay Park near 14th Road and Utopia Parkway, according to authorities. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death. -Additional reporting by Paulina Tam 110TH PRECINCT Corona and Elmhurst Two killed in Long Island Expressway crash Two men lost their lives on the Long Island Expressway when their car struck a guardrail at the exit for the Grand Central Parkway, police said. The vehicle, a Subaru Impreza, was traveling westbound on the roadway at about 12:35 a.m. on Aug. 2 when the driver tried to get onto the parkway exit and failed to properly navigate the turn, cops said. The car then struck a guardrail before hitting a metal overpass structure and overturning on its side. The driver, a 30-year-old man, and his passenger, a 31-year-old man, were taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, according to authorities. As of press time, both victims have yet to be identifi ed by police. 114TH PRECINCT Astoria, Long Island City, Woodside and Jackson Heights Man charged in robbery of 90-year-old outside LIC supermarket Police have arrested a suspect who is accused of grabbing a 90-year-old man outside of a Long Island City supermarket and making him drive to ATMs to withdraw money. Wade Hairston, 28, of Astoria, has been charged with robbery, criminal obstruction of breathing, unlawful imprisonment and Photo courtesy of NYPD harassment in the July 22 incident, cops said. The victim was walking to his car outside of the Stop & Shop on 48th Street at about 10:45 a.m. that day when the suspect grabbed him by the neck, police said. The suspect then told him to hand over his wallet and demanded his PIN number before forcing the victim drive to two locations, where he took out cash from ATMs. 115TH PRECINCT East Elmhurst, Corona and Jackson Heights 30-year-old found murdered in Corona Police are investigating the murder of a 30-year-old man who was slashed to death in Corona. Offi cers, responding to a 9-1-1 call, discovered Fabian Carreno at about 2:15 a.m. on Aug. 3 lying on the corner of 97th Street and Northern Boulevard with slash wounds to his face and neck, cops said. Carreno, a Woodside resident, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Gary Jacoby, 61, was arraigned on July 31 in Queens Criminal Court on charges of grand larceny and criminal possession of a forged instrument, according to prosecutors. He allegedly pocketed the money for four years, starting in January 2008, the month of his mother’s death. In order to pull off the scheme, each year Jacoby would need to prove to the German Pension Insurance Co. that his mother was still alive with a life certifi cate signed by her, the criminal complaint said. Jacoby used a notary who knew his family and who was aware she was dead, to notarize the certifi cate. He also went to the German embassy in New York City in March 2012 and stated that his mother was still alive, according to court records.
