At approximately 10:40 a.m. on May 19, a 29-year-old female employee of Propper Manufacturing Company, located at 36-04 Skillman Ave., received a phone call from a woman saying that she was going to blow up the building. The employee later received an email with the same threat. However, when officers from the 108th Precinct arrived on scene, no bomb was found. Police have identified the suspect as Vernice Brown, 26, and are searching for her whereabouts. Propper Manufacturing supplies businesses in the health care industry with diagnostic tools and medical kits. The CEO of Propper Manufacturing, Joe Looney, credited the employees’ orderliness to their company’s emergency plan. “We followed our emergency protocol, called the NYPD, and evacuated the building,” Looney told The Courier. All calls and messages are kept confidential. 109th Precinct Bayside, College Point, Flushing, Whitestone Sketch of Flushing park creep The NYPD released on June 28 a sketch of a man who sexually assaulted three women in the area of Kissena Park in Flushing earlier this month. Law enforcement agents describe the suspect as a 40-year-old Hispanic male standing 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds with a slim and muscular build, black and gray hair and a tattoo of a red and green star on the back of his arm above the elbow. According to authorities, the first of the three incidents took place at 6:30 p.m. on June 10 in the area of Oak Avenue. Authorities said a 50-year-old woman was riding her bike near the park at Colden Street when she was approached by the suspect, who grabbed the woman off her bike and dragged her toward the park. He attempted to talk to the woman as he touched himself over his clothing. The woman managed to escape his clutches and fled the scene. Two days later, at 10:15 a.m. on June 12, the suspect attacked a 24-year-old woman in the vicinity of Colden Street and Mulberry Avenue, authorities said. The man engaged her in conversation, then hugged her, kissed her on the cheek and groped her buttocks. After he again touched himself over his clothing, police noted, the victim fled the scene on foot. Finally, at 6:30 p.m. on June 15, the perpetrator assaulted a 41-year-old woman in the area of 56th Avenue and 148th Street. According to police, he grabbed the woman’s arms and tried to drag her into a nearby backyard; when the woman screamed, he let her go and fled inside a red vehicle. All three incidents were reported to the 109th Precinct; there were no serious injuries reported. All calls and messages are kept confidential. 110th Precinct Corona, Elmhurst Man forcibly touches an 11-year-old’s chest on an Elmhurst street Police are looking for a suspect who walked up to an 11-year-old girl in Elmhurst and placed his hand on her chest. On June 23 at approximately 7:45 a.m., a male suspect approached the victim near 79-17 Albion Ave. and touched her chest. Police describe the suspect as a white male, approximately 20 to 25 years old. All calls are strictly confidential. 114th Precinct Astoria, LIC 19 people were injured after truck crash in Astoria An FDNY truck that was racing to the scene of a fire crashed into an MTA bus in Astoria on the afternoon of June 26, leaving 19 people injured, it was reported. At approximately 12:20 p.m. on June 26, the rig of Engine Co. 312, which was heading to a fire reported at 8-01 26th Ave. in Astoria, collided with the bus at the intersection of Ditmars Boulevard and 21st Street. An MTA spokesperson said the bus was moving on a green light as the truck had its emergency lights and siren on. As a result, 14 civilians and five firefighters suffered minor injuries and were taken to local hospitals for treatment, an NYPD spokesperson said. According to the NY Post, the bus jumped a curb and landed only a few feet from the outdoor patio of Bowery Bay restaurant on Ditmars Boulevard. Witnesses told the NY Post that there was a pregnant woman as well as a small baby among the injured. Police confirmed that a crash investigation squad wasn’t requested at the scene. An MTA spokesperson said that the accident is under investigation.
