Xie, who studies at P.S. 115 in Glen Oaks, attended legislative meetings, participated in a press conference, and interacted with elected officials along with sponsor Weprin, who recently left his post for a spot in the administration of Governor Andrew Cuomo. In her winning essay, Xie wrote about the different places she would go on a day’s excursions, including the Queens County Farm and a dim sum restaurant in her choices.
