Then, on May 16th, the monthly Open Mic saw an array of talented poets, singers, musicians, orators, comedians, and others perform their own material. Finally, on May 19th, Donna "Gentle Spirit" Barron of Little Neck's Matinecock Native American community gave a lecture and signed copies of her latest book (top right photo, seated, pink jacket). All of these events were sponsored or co-sponsored by the Friends of the Douglaston/Little Neck Community Library, who are unpaid volunteer advocates for their branch library speci- fically and the Queens Library in general.
