22 The Queens Courier • JUNE 11, 2015 for breaking news visit www.queenscourier.com 1 2 4 5 BY QUEENS COURIER STAFF [email protected] @QueensCourier Summer is finally just around the corner and what better way to celebrate the warm weather than to take a trip down to the LIC Flea & Food. Since kicking off in April, the popular Long Island City flea market — located at an outdoor lot by the waterfront at the corner of Fifth Street and 46th Avenue — has celebrated continuous successful weekends. Items for sale at the market include food and drinks, collectibles, antiques, arts and crafts, handcrafted jewelry and fashion, and much more from returning and brand-new vendors. Along with over 80 vendors each day, the market also has a beer garden, exclusively serving beers brewed in Queens from local breweries including Rockaway Brewery, Queens Brewery, Finback and SingleCut. The bar will also offer a great selection of wines. There is even a patch of grass at the market where you can go and relax during those beautiful summer days, or walk on over to the LIC Boathouse and kayak right alongside the LIC Flea. Upcoming events at the market include a Father’s Day celebration on June 20 and 21 where you can get your dad great gifts. LIC Flea & Food runs every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., through the end of October. MiZUDaMA,Inc. www.mizudama.com www.facebook.com/mizudamany This vendor specializes in babies’ and kids’ clothing and accessories exclusively imported from Japan to here in the United States. All the products are safe and of great quality. 2. Dutch Kills Klotheing www.dutchkillsklotheing.com This apparel brand combines vintage graphics with one of the oldest inventions, x screen printing, with the newest inks, creating the softest shirts possible. “We were inspired by living in the Dutch Kills area, surrounded by beautiful old buildings, many with advertising still on the side. There is a solid middle-class, working vibe in this no-nonsense nabe. But at the same time the light that reflects off the LI Sound and then bounces back from the Atlantic creates an impressionistic filter on life at 32nd Street and 36th Avenue,” said Eva Weiss, principal designer and founder. “The deep blues and light pinks of the early morning and evening make living here feel like I live in the clouds some days!” 3. Tikka Pops Tikka Pops are a delicious new take on chicken wings. Eric and Jenny are behind Tikka Pops and are Queens residents, avid cooks and enthusiastic eaters. They take high-quality chicken and craft them into a snackable, savory lollipop. “We started making Tikka Pops for our own consumption, but with one bite, we knew we needed to share it with the world. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do,” the owners said. The chicken lollipops are marinated in their own proprietary blend of spices. Made in a cast iron skillet, these delectable lollipops are fried golden to the perfect crisp and puff. You can try Tikka Pops with Masala, Buffalo, Korean Chili, or a selection of rotating special sauces. 4. Bulldog Burgery After traveling the country with their burgers and fries, Bulldog Burgery returns home to Queens, serving their amazing hand-cut fries at the LIC Flea. Using fresh, whole potatoes, they cut and fry their potatoes twice to perfection. Seasonal, rotating sauces will make sure your fries never go naked again. 5. Damian Rivera Love art?
