Prior to the game, team members and dignitaries from across Queens and the city gathered at the ballpark for a gala marking the season’s beginning. Mayor Bill de Blasio was on hand for the pregame festivities, which paid special tribute to Detectives Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu, who were gunned down last December while on duty in Brooklyn. The Ramos and Liu families had the honor of throwing out the first pitch to Mets players Curtis Granderson, Matt Harvey and David Wright.
