Korean folk painting, also called Minhwa, truthfully expresses the life and thoughts of Koreans, with great wit. It is also used as a symbol of good fortune for the New Year. This exhibition will showcase 60 artworks from Baraem Art Research Institute in Korea and will give visitors a chance to experience the beauty of Korean folk paintings. There is a suggested admission of $5 for members and students. The opening reception is at 6 p.m. SUNDAY, MARCH 30 Queensborough Performing Arts Center (QPAC) is holding a Moscow Ballet Festival, presenting “Swan Lake.” Simply one of the greatest classical ballets of all time, with music by Tchaikovsky, it is based on a German fairy tale and follows a heroic young prince, as he labors to free a beautiful swan maiden. This performance features principal dancers from the ranks of Russia’s top companies. This show starts at 3 p.m. and is a treat for all ages. Tickets start at $39. THRU APRIL 11 Join millions of real butterfl ies on an amazing journey to a remote and secret hideaway at the New York Hall of Science (NYSCI), Tuesday to Friday from 11a.m. to noon and at 2 p.m. Follow the monarchs’ journey to the remote mountain peaks of Mexico in a 3D fi lm. For the fi rst time ever, witness the transformation from caterpillar to butterfl y, inside a chrysalis, thanks to advanced MRI and micro CT scans. The award-winning production team, including Oscar-winner Peter Parks, followed the year-long migration cycle of the butterfl ies.
