Jimmie Knight, 56, a Staten Island resident, walked into the Chase Bank at 66-02 Grand Ave. about 3:25 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14 and indicated that he had a weapon in his coat pocket, cops said. He then removed money from the bank and fled. Police searched the area until they found Knight, who was at the intersection of Grand Avenue and 64th Street. Knight was charged with robbery, menacing, criminal possession of stolen property and harassment, cops said. 109th Precinct Downtown Flushing, East Flushing, Queensboro Hill, College Point, Malba, Whitestone, Beechhurst and Bay Terrace Man arrested for stealing woman’s cell phone at Flushing store A man was arrested on Friday, January 17 after shoppers at a Flushing supermarket saw him take a customer’s cell phone, a police source said. Carlos Bengumea, 60, allegedly swiped the woman’s phone as she was shopping at the Chung Fat Supermarket, at 41-82 Main Street, about 7 p.m. Several shoppers observed him committing the crime, the police said, and he was arrested and charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. Bengumea has a long criminal history dating back to 1986, according to police. 114th Precinct Astoria, Long Island City, Woodside and Jackson Heights Police seek two in connection with Astoria shooting Two suspects walked up to a man in Astoria on Monday and shot him before running away, cops said. The 37-year-old victim was standing on Steinway Street, near 35th Avenue, when the suspects approached him, then fired, striking him in the ankle, according to police. They then fled on foot. Cops seek three in possible anti-gay assault at Astoria diner A verbal dispute at an  Astoria  diner that escalated into an assault is being investigated as a possible anti-gay hate crime and authorities are looking for three suspects in connection to the incident, police said. The victims, a 30-year-old woman and 32-year-old man, were inside of the Neptune Diner, located at 31-05 Astoria Boulevard about 5 a.m. on January 8, when they became involved in an argument, which involved anti-gay statements made towards them, the NYPD said. The three suspects then allegedly threw plates at the victims, police said. The victims were taken to a local hospital  with lacerations to their heads, cops said. Investigators from the Hate Crimes Task Force are looking to question two women and one man depicted in surveillance photos police have released from the diner. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. 115th Precinct East Elmhurst, North Corona and Jackson Heights Suspect wanted for groping teen on No. 7 train A 16-year-old riding a Queens subway train was inappropriately touched by a man who then fled, after groping her. The incident occurred about 8 a.m. on Thursday, January 16 on a Manhattan bound No. 7 train at the 74 Street- Broadway/Roosevelt Avenue station in Jackson Heights. The suspect touched the teen over her clothing in her groin and buttocks area, then escaped on foot, police said. The victim did not sustain any physical injuries. Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male, 30 to 35 years old and 5’ 9” inches tall. He was last seen wearing a tan baseball cap, a black hooded sweatshirt with a red turtleneck underneath and sunglasses. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. Murder charge in stabbing death of wife, kids BY CRISTABELLE TUMOLA ctumola@queenscourier.com A Jamaica man has been charged with the murder of his wife and two young daughters after being apprehended in Texas and allegedly admitting to the crime, District Attorney Richard A. Brown said. As of Wednesday, January 22, Miguel Mejia-Ramos, 29, was being held at the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office in Texas, where he was taken into custody on Monday evening, according to the DA. Following extradition to New York, he will be arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on charges of firstdegree and second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. If convicted, he faces life in prison without possibility of parole. Mejia-Ramos is accused of brutally stabbing his wife, 21-year-old Deisy Garcia, and their children, Daniela Mejia, 2, and Yaslin Mejia, 1, inside their Sutphin Boulevard apartment sometime between the night of PHOTO VIA FACEBOOK Saturday, January 18 and Sunday, January 19, Brown said. Each victim had multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. He allegedly came home Saturday night after drinking beer at a friend’s house and went through his wife’s phone and Facebook account, where he found a photo of her and another man, Brown said. Mejia-Ramos then allegedly snapped and killed his wife and daughters. Garcia was reportedly a frequent churchgoer and her local parish, Iglesia Naciones Unidas en Cristo, said “our cry for her family is that God will fill them with peace and strength.” “We give thanks to God for the years He gave her and for all the time we were able to share with her and her marvelous daughters,” they said.
