This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service,” which highlights the schools’ focus on faith development, academic excellence and dedication to community service. 2013 Facts: • ELA results on New York State Tests in Catholic schools and academies within the Diocese of Brooklyn consistently outpaced New York State and City schools. • 75% of graduating 8th graders within the Diocese of Brooklyn went on to Catholic high schools and other private or specialized high schools. • Nationally, 99.4% of Catholic school students graduate high school compared to 75.5% of public school students. Each school and academy in Brooklyn and Queens will also host their own events in honor of Catholic Schools Week. We invite prospective students, their families and community residents to call a school or academy to fi nd out about their community events. Open house dates and guided tours in many locations will help you to learn about the school’s educational programs and extracurricular activities. National Catholic Schools Week is a joint project of the National Catholic Educational Association and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
