But fortunately, it’s going to continue under new management for at least 30 years to come. I decided to pay a visit to see how it was faring under the new owners, the Dover Group and attorney/restaurateur Anthony Capetola. The restaurant part of the Milleridge Inn property has a welcoming feeling to the multiple dining rooms. I noticed two parties of 14 sitting at a round table. There are four different dining rooms for everyone’s taste. I particularly like the private room for 12 to 14 people, off the handsome bar where there are intimate booths and stools. For lunch, we chose the sun-filled dining room set off from the main dining room. Of course, as soon as I sat down, I requested the famous, mouth-watering, hot, right-out-of-the-oven popovers and cinnamon loaf slices. It was lunch and I was hungry, so I chose the three-course, prix-fixe meal including an appetizer, entree and dessert for $39.95. I started with the Milleridge Salad, which is more like a Cobb salad and enough for a meal! My friend had the famous Peter’s MILLERIDGE INN RESTAURANT 685 Broadway, Jericho, NY 11753 516-931-2201 Open seven days, brunch on Sundays Handicapped accessible clam chowder from the new owners’ famous Peter’s Clam House. It was overflowing with clams, vegetables and potatoes, with a delicate and tasty red rich broth. I ordered my favorite dish — grilled salmon — from a long list of choices, and my friend had the lobster roll. Both of us found our plates overflowing and had to take home doggie bags. My salmon was perfectly prepared, and my companion’s lobster roll was loaded with big chunks of lobster. Of course, I had to sample the desserts and found the Milleridge cheesecake luscious and rich, topped with whipped cream. The hot apple strudel was packed with apples, rich on the inside and crispy on the outside. This historic site’s new owners are enhancing its American cuisine, and our service staff was attentive and professional. I’m delighted the tradition of Milleridge is only getting better!
