Rep. Israel gets behind Middle-Class boost Board President, Mort Gitter introduces the Congressman Rep. Steve Israel, who leads a Congressional “Middle Class Working Group” on Capital Hill, brought a message to NST a few weeks ago – it’s time for government to get back to come to the aid of the group that made America strong. “Middle-class anxiety is one of the most critical issues facing our country,” the Congressman told a round-table event sponsored by the NST Political Action Committee. Israel, a TK-term Democrat who represents a Congressional district which includes Nassau County and parts of Eastern Queens – including the Towers – is starting his campaign on behalf of the middle class with two bills: “The Elder Care Tax Credit Act” granting those caring for elderly relatives up to a $1,200 tax credit and “The College Preparation Tax Credit Act” which would allow families paying for college prep Sol Tang thanks the Congressman for the help he gives to constituints Congressman Israel discusses the issues issues of the day classes and tutors to qualify for a tax credit of up to $500 per child. Among the residents’ concerns were sharp increases recently in long-term health insurance premiums, something Rep. Israel promised to look into.
