Bon appétit! A beautiful setting for a beautiful evening
BY JILL DAVIS
Diner en Blanc returned this year
but with a couple of subtle twists.
First, the dinner is traditionally held
on Labor Day but had to be moved
to September 12th this year because
of Rosh Hashanah. Second, it was
held outdoors since the VIP room
wasn’t available.
Those details were really immaterial
after all. “It was a highly anticipated
gathering to mark a new beginning of
better times to come and a renewal of
friendships,” said Phyllis Goldstein,
the committee chair of the event.
Phyllis reported that the weather
was great and the music perfect.
“DJ Lynn had just the perfect mix
and so many people were dancing,”
she said, “and of course the food
was divine!”
This year’s dinner was particular-ly
special since last year’s event was
(pardon the pun) “blank” and did
not happen in 2020. Phyllis said,
“This year the event was a huge suc-cess
because it marked the end of
summer and a year that many, if not
all, found very difficult. Everyone
wanted to party, and they did.”
Although Phyllis chaired the
committee, it takes a group to make
this kind of event happen. “Many
people helped make the evening a
success,” Phyllis said, “including
Mary Anne Langone, Teri Oropallo,
Evelyn Pinsky, Trudy Savage and
many others.”
Phyllis also wants you to note:
“We did put the event on the calen-dar
for 2022…Labor Day evening,
September 5…get your whites ready!”
