Babes Against Cancer and The Marathon Men
What a Team!
NST’s Marathon Men Golf
event held on September
3 was a huge success. Bob
Guido and John Morrison, aka
“The Marathon Men,” took on the
challenge to play as many holes as
possible to raise money for Babes
Against Cancer. With a minimum
contribution of just 75 cents per
hole, the duo raised a remarkable
$5,000 towards this worthy cause.
That’s a lot of holes! BABE chair-woman
Theresa Oropallo expressed
her appreciation for Bob and John’s
work for “devoting so much time
and effort to the cause.”
Of course the ladies got involved
too, and the photos here illustrate
the spirit of the BABES charity
(masks notwithstanding). The golf-ers
enjoyed the "grab and go" golf
outing. “If anything,” Theresa said,
“they complained it was too much
food!” She added, “Of course, they
missed the comraderie of BABES
events of other years.”
Theresa reports that as of the end
of September, a total of $17,500 has
been raised. “Our North Shore
Towers Community as a whole
should be congratulated and
thanked. Their support was phe-nomenal,”
she said.
Readers should note that more
BABE events are in the works.
The popular Walk on the Course,
organized by Phyllis Goldstein, will
be held October 4, and this year's
Land on the Green event will be a
50/50 format.
Theresa said, "We are all so
aware of the need to find a cure
and through BABE, the human-istic
approach to helping individ-uals’
suffering--providing rides for
doctor visits, wigs for self-esteem,
psychological support, a place to
stay in Manhattan for easy access
to treatment--in short, reaching out
to help ease the burden. I want to
thank my committee, and the entire
North Shore Towers community,
for their support."
