Even a heat index in triple digits couldn’t discourage players from hitting the greens for the 2016 Championship games STORY AND PHOTOS BY STEPHEN VRATTOS It was HOT! But the players were hotter, as the 2016 North Shore Towers Golf Championship took center stage Sunday, August 14. A dozen women and twice that many men competed, vying for top honors in three levels on each side, with one ultimate men’s and women’s champion. On the Ladies’ side, last year’s champion, Sun Moon Choi nearly repeated her dramatic comeback of 2015, rallying from 5 strokes back. But Marilyn Agin was not to be denied, holding off the charging Choi to capture the crown. “B” and “C” Flight winners were Kathy Bitetti and Roxann Ferdschneider, respectively. Meanwhile, Jim Kahn and Tim Prichard battled throughout the day, with Kahn finally taking the title. During the awards presentation in the VIP Room after the match, NST Golf Pro Bob Guido stressed Kahn’s intensified golfing regimen this season, a strategy that paid off. Howard Marcus and Al Harris succeeded in the “B” and “C” Flights.
