NST Country Club Holds Babes & Guys Day for American Cancer Society North Shore Towers Courier n August 2014 3 Photos by Mike Stavisky and Julie Weissman North Shore Towers Country Club celebrated its annual charity function for the American Cancer Society with a Babes and Guys Event on Thursday, July 10th which 230 golfers and card players attended. Both men and women enthusiastically embraced the event. It was so successful that the golf course and card party reached capacity and Towers on the Green was proudly bursting. A fabulous luncheon was prepared and served by Gus and Harry of the Towers Restaurant. Everybody was delighted with the menu, food and service. The room looked beautiful with the colorful centerpieces, table cloths and balloons. The raffle prizes were plentiful, donated by local restaurants and shops which we hope everyone will patronize. Our vendor, Linda Silver Designs, had beautiful jewelry, shawls, bags and sweaters to sell. Her help with many outside restaurants and raffle prizes, and donation of 3 beautiful gifts, helped make this event a success. After an introductory speech by Paula Franklin, we were privileged to have the Director, June Ingraham, of Babes Against Cancer for the American Cancer Society, address us on support of cancer patients locally and worldwide and funding of research for all forms of cancer. We learned that ACS is the largest cancer charity and #1 health organization that supports cancer patients and why it’s different from other organizations. It was interesting and enlightening, and we appreciated her joining us for the day and engaging with our participants. Considering the huge number of people that attended, everything ran very smoothly. This shows us and makes us appreciate the results of a vibrant community pulling together for a worthy cause. We also sincerely appreciate the support and donations of all members of our community who couldn’t attend, and to all who helped put this event together. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
