The Women’s Club is currently wrapping up
their three-part series on the Constitution presented
by Professor James Coll of Hofstra and
Nassau Community College. The topics include
understanding the 2nd amendment: “The right
to bear arms.”’ The next topic under discussion,
“The Role of the President.” The final lecture
(July 18): “The Police and the Constitution.”
The creative brainchild of Programming Vice
President Gloria Beck has been met with enthusiasm
and applause from attending members of
the Women’s Club.
SO WHAT’S NEXT? PLENTY!
A new series of summer workshops,
“Reflections on Aging,” has been developed for
the NST Women’s Club. The workshops will be
facilitated by Barbara Goldstein, a clinical social
worker at the Sid Jacobson JCC. Barbara is a
graduate of Cornell University. She received her
Master’s Degree in Social Work from Adelphi
University and holds a post masters certificate
in “End of Life and Palliative Care Counseling”
from NYU School of Social Work. Barbara is a
resident of North Shore Towers, and two years
ago, presented a well-received program for the
Women’s Club about her friendship with Otto
Frank, the father of Anne Frank.
The newly created series will consist of four
workshops of no more than 20 people each to
ensure all attending members have an opportunity
to participate in the discussion. Topics will
include new identities women take on in their
lives, brought on either through widowhood,
divorce, retirement or caregiving for an ailing
spouse. Other topics include family relationships
with children and grandchildren and the
physical changes brought about by aging.
Titles of the Workshops

ourselves as our identities change due to life
circumstances.
• “Hold On-Let GO”—Relationships with our
adult children: how to stay connected while
respecting boundaries.
• “Bubby and Me”—Grandparenting in the 21st
