Shore Towers Board of
Directors was assured
when both President Mario Carmiciano
and fellow Board Member
George Nagelberg decided not to
pursue re-election, leaving the
door open for two candidates from
the prodigious slate of 11 vying
for a position this year. Even if the
remaining incumbents, Fred Chernow
and Warren Glenn, succeeded
in retaining their seats, and Felice
Hannah were to win and regain a
Board position, from which she
took a sabbatical last year, when
a job opportunity necessitated her
time being so preoccupied she felt
she would be unable to give the
Board its due, it would still leave
an opening for a fledgling candidate
to be elected.
The voting deadline occurred
on Thursday, June
21, following the
Annual Board
Meeting in the
Towers Cinema. The
results were tabulated
and announced
the following day.
Once the dust settled
and all the votes
were counted Fred
Chernow handily
captured the top
spot, followed by
Felice Hannah.
Two newcomers
to the Board, Ed
Phelan and Debra Markell-Kleinert
rounded out the quartet of winners,
each elected for 2-year terms. They
will be joining Steve Redlich, Bob
Ricken, Stanley Goldsmith and
Phyllis Goldstein.
Before the meeting adjourned,
outgoing Board President Mario
Carmiciano took the dais to bid
his constituents a fond adieu. In
an emotional address, he thanked
the residents and the many individuals
with whom he shared the
Board, during the six years (3
terms) he served, the final few as
President. He reminded residents of
the many accomplishments of the
Board in those half dozen years,
which include the installation of
three new generators; LED lighting
fixtures in the garage, throughout
the Arcade and Country Club; the
Towers Cinema upgrade and renovation
of the indoor and outdoor
pools; and the negotiation of the
new Spectrum cable, telephone/
internet contract. He hailed the
transparency of the Board, during
his tenure, and urged everyone not
to give credence to the rumors circulating
on social media sites, most
of which are patently untrue.
“North Shore Towers does tower
above all others,” he concluded.
