NST TENNIS ASSOCIATION NOT-SO-ANNUAL PIZZA PARTY BY LEO TUJAK More than 60 tennis members and their guests met in the Country Club men’s card room, Wednesday June 17th for a pizza party. With pizzas from Umberto’s in New Hyde Park, and a salad (with everything in it) supplied by our own chef Sid Binstock, we ate pretty well. There were sodas for those that wanted and we finished off with ice cream/sherbet for dessert. We managed to demolish a dozen large pies (with the salad) in just about 30 minutes. I would like to thank the following people who were of great assistance in helping prepare, setup, clean up and generally put forward an effort: Asher Pachinky, Lydia Feinberg, Julie Weissman, Esther Appel and Jane Tujak, and of course our inimitable chef, Sid Binstock. I believe we owe them a big thank you. This would not have gone off as well as it did without them. After the eating portion of the dinner, Sid Binstock gave one of his famous demonstrations. Mostly interspersed with “no you don’t do it like that” and “this is the way it’s done,” given and taken in a fun manner. Two members (Lydia Feinberg and Barney Masnick) prepared Waldorf salad under the watchful eye of the chef. And then four “impartial” judges tasted both and decided a winner… Well, almost—it turned out to be a tie. FUTURE EVENTS Sunday, July 5th tennis tournament, followed by BBQ luncheon on Towers on the Green (members only).
