New Board will get to work The membership on the North Shore Towers Board of Directors election results has just been announced by the American Arbitration Association, and joining me will be Bruce Savid, Maria Termini Miller and Felice Hannah. It’s a pleasure to congratulate them on their successful campaign. I’d be remiss if I also did not thank both Mel Fox and Dolores Goidel for their attempt to serve our community. THE FINAL RESULTS • ROBERT RICKEN 3,427,985 Elected • BRUCE SAVID 3,129,625 Elected • MARIA TERMINI MILLER 2,294,677 Elected • FELICE HANNAH 2,224,446 Elected • DEE-DEE GOIDEL 1,897,478 • MEL FOX 644,344 In the week immediately following the election results, the new Board of Directors will meet and vote for the new President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Also in the next few days, the new president will announce the chairpersons of our committees. The present committees are: the Country Club, Budget and Finance, House and Grounds, Gym, Aerobics and Pool (GAP), Political Action, Screening and the Capital Improvement Committee. Shortly, every resident will receive a list of these committees. It is an opportunity for shareholders from the towers A Message from the President: Bob Ricken to volunteer to serve on one of these committees. Board members encourage everyone to share their expertise and become active in the process by which we attempt to improve the quality of life here at The Towers. We strongly believe that future board candidates should gain committee experience prior to running for a seat on the board of directors. The committee chairpersons report the recommendations of their committee members at every board meeting. Each item is discussed and frequently the suggestions are accepted by the board and placed on our action agenda. We have received countless recommendations from our committees and many have improved our cooperative’s ambiance. Several ideas have also helped us to save money and improve our security. We hope you see the committees as a means to have your ideas discussed and possibly be implemented. The new board members will also be given a comprehensive orientation program. Some of the agenda items include the following topics: • Policy making role • Relationship with Management • The mission of each board committee • A thorough review of our budget. • Pending litigations • Review of previous minutes of recent meetings • Roberts Rules of Order • Upcoming contract negotiations • Screening role and responsibilities • Bidding, purchasing, work orders and payroll procedures • Emergency contact information • E-mails, cell phones and telephone contacts • Ideas for future projects. • Opportunity for question and answer session • Meeting with attorney and management personnel. We look forward to another rewarding year and will shortly develop the goals for the 2013- 2014 North Shore Towers Board of Directors. SEND US YOUR LETTERS!
