MARCH FOOD DRIVE COLLECTS 1,500 LBS.
OF FOOD!

After the tremendous success of the January
food drive in which generous NST residents
donated over 640 lbs. of food, residents were
challenged to double that amount in second
drive held in March.
NST residents not only met that challenge,
but exceeded it. Sue Berman, the director
of the food program at the Sid Jacobson
Community Center, reported that North
Shore Towers donated 1,500 lbs. of food
from its latest drive held last month. Sue was
tremendously grateful. “There continues to
be a great need for food,” she said, “and I
can’t thank North Shore Towers enough for
their generosity.”
NST came through again and I, for one,
am very proud that we live here with so
many generous people. On behalf of the
Upstanders, thank you one and all.
A NEW CAUSE: HELP SHELTER RESIDENTS
THURSDAY, APRIL 15, 12:00 PM
– 1:30 PM
We’re now branching out to help the men
and women who live in shelters. We may not
realize it, but those who go to a shelter arrive
with nothing. They need our help!
In coordination with Common Point
Queens, we are collecting large plastic bags
filled with hygienic products that can be given
to each person as they arrive at the shelter.
Please fill 1 bag, 5 bags, 10 bags, or whatever
you can manage. We will again be collecting
items in each lobby.
You’ll help these people feel good--and
you’ll feel good as well!!!
