Hollywood”

Utilizing clips from vintage Hollywood films,
Keith Crocker will give a detailed account of the
West Coast’s view of the East Coast. Gold Coast
mansions provided perfect settings for a Marx
Brothers comedy or a murder scene and the
beauty and wonder of Long Island will forever
be captured in the heyday of tinsel town.

Starting with
three off-Broadway
musicals
in the 1950’s,
composer and
lyricist Jerry
Herman moved to
Broadway in 1961
with the Tonynominated
“Milk
and Honey.”
In 1964 his
reputation was
firmly established
with the smash
success of “Hello
Dolly!” followed
two years later by
the equally successful “Mame.”
Herman was greatly admired as a songwriter
and had his work performed by many of the
greatest Broadway stars. Come enjoy this lecture
reliving his greatest accomplishments.
