MIGDAL IS THANKFUL FOR A 2019 CHANUKAH MITZVAH
BY DEE-DEE

The Migdal
Chapter of
Hadassah’s
annual Chanukah
Party on December
18 was well attended, making it one
of the most successful ever. Guests
in their festive attire set the tone
for a celebratory and entertaining
evening. The Towers on the Green’s
tables were laden with platters of
latkes, apple sauce, fruits, holiday
pastries and Chanukah decorations.
At each table old friends and
new friends were engaged in lively
conversation and laughter.
Kit Benton led us in the singing
of Hatikvah and the National
Anthem. The traditional candle
lighting of the menorah was done
by Eva Kessner, Zona Schreiber
and Kit Benton. Judy Paris, the
party’s emcee, is a Migdal Board
member and former nurse and
assistant professor of nursing. She
reminded those in attendance of the
great need to support Hadassah’s
cutting edge cancer research, which
is shared globally.
Then it was munching time,
and it is always a delight when
neighbors sit and break bread with
one another--in this case, latkes.
Through the flickering candlelight
we enjoyed watching the North
Shore Towers dance class, led by
instructor Alan Bloom, join hands
to circle round and round in lively
Israeli dances. Soon the dancers
were joined by others in attendance
and the dance floor was full of gaily
swirling figures.
The merriment continued as raffles
were drawn. Fourteen prizes
donated by our local Arcade vendors
and nearby shopping malls
were distributed to the winners. A
special thank you goes to Marcia
and Bernie Jacobson for their
dedication in securing most of the
donated prizes.
As the event ended, you could tell
there was a feeling of goodwill as
the attendees left knowing that you
can have fun while raising money
for needed medical research. It is
important to note that for all of
Migdal events, many who are unable
to attend send monetary donations.
Migdal thanks you all for attending
or sending a donation, which created
a Chanukah Mitzvah.

It’s the Winter of 2020
BY BUD BANK, NST
INVESTMENT CLUB
I am in Boca Raton, Florida, with
hundreds of North Shore Towers
residents. The day I arrived I
went to Harmon Drug for supplies.
As I was walking down the aisle a
lady I had never met said “Hi Bud.”
She said I love reading your Investment
Club articles. Very nice lady,
I’ve been in North Shore Towers for
six years and never spoke to her;
what a pleasant surprise.
The next day while I was in
Publix and again bumped into
another North Shore Tower
resident.
It’s so nice to see neighbors when
at our home away from home. It’s
great to be with friends new and old
during my winter getaway.
I’ve been reading Nextdoor,
sorry to hear about the hot water
problem; very sad about the loss of
two wonderful residents, my heart
goes out to their families. I love to
read what Barbara L. has to say. She
loves North Shore Towers and tries
to make it a better place for all of us.
Thank you Barbara for all you do.
When I’m home I use the
express bus every week, 10 am
out, 2pm home.
Unfortunately, the
new schedule is not
convenient for me
and I’m sure many
others as well.
One of my
Florida friends
asked me what
I miss at North
Shore Towers. I
miss the wonderful good morning
greeting from Neil the doorman
and the good evening greeting from
Joe. Of course, I also miss seeing
Buffy and Dennis, owners of our
wonderful restaurant. I miss my
arcade walking partner, my Tuesday
luncheon friend and the couple we
have dinner with on Friday night.
See you all soon.
