Dear North Shore Towers Community,
As this highly unusual year comes to a close, we are immensely grateful for the creative and determined
fundraising that went on at our clubs this season. As the majority of ACS events went virtual or were
cancelled entirely, the Babes pushed on and became the true bright spot in our Northeast Region.
Congratulations to North Shore Towers for raising $21,388 in 2020!
We salute the North Shore Towers Babes Committee
Like so many charities, ACS is in a dire financial position. We’ve undergone sweeping staff layoffs, huge
budgets cuts and nationwide office closures, including the shuttering this month of the only ACS Long
Island office. We are facing an over $200 million deficit and COVID-19 has reduced our ability to fund
cancer research by 50% in 2020, the lowest investment this century. This puts in peril our ability to make
new discoveries and fund better treatments to save lives. Needless to say, the donation from your club
is a meaningful contribution towards the future of the American Cancer Society and our mission.
When things get tough, you learn who your true friends are. The North Shore Towers community is the
equivalent of a “true friend” who can always be counted upon by the American Cancer Society. We so
appreciate the strong relationship our organizations share. Your steadfast support in this time of need
will never be forgotten.
