This program presents the tumultuous events
of the American Civil Rights movement in an
engaging, uplifting manner. Narration, still photos
and videos are skillfully combined with live
musical performances of songs from the era.
Join in singing and clapping along to the many
“Freedom Songs” featured in the program.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 23
Video “The Thinking Heart
Cantata”
followed by Q&A with
Composer Robert Perretti
8 PM – VIP Room
The Thinking Heart Cantata tells the story of
Etty Hillesum, the Dutch Jewish woman whose
courage during the Holocaust made her a comfort
to all victims of oppression. This cantata tells
her story with music by Robert Perretti and a
libretto based on Etty’s journal which she kept
until her deportation to Auschwitz.
