GEORGE TO THE RESCUE SEASON 12
HOME RENOS FOR
HONORABLE LI-ERS
Three deserving groups of Long Islanders

were rewarded for their selfl essness
with home renovations in the October
episodes of NBC’s George to the Rescue.
This month, the TV show will highlight
the Schmidt family, of Greenlawn;
Brittany’s Baskets of Hope, of Lake
Grove; and the Callahan family, of
West Hempstead. In its 12th season,
George to the Rescue stars George
Oliphant, who visits people making
a diff erence in their area and treats
them to a makeover of a room or
workspace that is important to them,
helping to transform their lives. The
groups of Long Islanders featured on
the show also typically demonstrate
resilience in the face of adversity.
“It was an honor to work with these
close-knit families and amazing
nonprofi ts throughout this season of
c h ange ,” Oliphant said.
“It is humb
l i n g
to see
neighbors coming together to help other
neighbors, especially when many don’t
know each other but want to make their
communities a better place. That’s what
George to the Rescue is all about.”
In the Oct. 9 episode, Oliphant and
his team renovate a home for the
Schmidts, a set of parents in Greenlawn
dedicated to fighting childhood
cancer. On Oct. 23, Oliphant surprises
an advocate for individuals with
Down syndrome and her organization,
Brittany’s Baskets of Hope, in
Lake Grove. And on Oct. 30, Oliphant
visits a West Hempstead man who is
nonverbal but has made significant
communicative strides through rapid
prompting method (RPM) therapy.
The fall premiere of Season 12 aired on
Sept. 18 with an episode featuring Lido
Beach’s Camp Anchor, the popular Town
of Hempstead summer camp that supports
young people with special needs.
“George’s leadership and collaborative
approach brought so many communities
together during the continued
challenges of Covid – and did so safely
under these truly extraordinary circumstances,”
said Marni Sabia,
vice
president of Lifestyle Production for
LXTV, an NBCUniversal-owned production
company. “We look forward
to sharing these life-changing
renovations and inspiring
stories with our viewers.”
