Parker Jewish Institute, Agewell Sponsor Lido Beach Senior Summer Program
Experts provide valuable information for residents and their family about programs and services
New Hyde Park, NY, August 2,
2019 – Parker Jewish Institute and
AgeWell New York representatives
greeted thousands of visitors when
it sponsored a week of the Town
of Hempstead’s Department of
Senior Enrichment Summer Beach
Program at Lido Beach, from July
22 through July 26.
Nearly 500 seniors attended the
event each day, and were provided
free, round-trip transportation from
the Town. The week was filled with
healthy living activities, including
a daily concert, Tai Chi, arts and
crafts, line dancing, swimming, bocce
and more. Experts were on hand to
inform attendees about services and
programs available to them.
Speakers included Robert Sabella
of Parker Jewish Institute and Chris
Demers of AgeWell New York.
After the presentations, Sabella
answered questions about Parker’s
skilled nursing facility as well as its
community programs, including
Parker’s Social Adult Day Care
Center, and free services through
Parker’s Willing Hearts, Helpful
Hands, a community program for
family caregivers of individuals
with Alzheimer’s disease or other
dementias. Also of interest was Parker
At Your Door, a medical house-call
program available in Queens and
Nassau counties.
Demers addressed questions about
Medicare as well as managed longterm
care and prescription drug
plan options and how these tools
help to maintain overall health and
well-being.
“Parker’s mission is to deliver

as a leader in providing resources
and education to older adults and
their families in the community,”
said Michael N. Rosenblut, Parker’s
president and CEO.
The information was well-received
by Senior Week attendees.
“Seniors and family members are
always grateful to learn about the
services available through Parker,
many of which are free,” Sabella said.
“Any service that we can provide
that doesn’t cost them money is very
advantageous.”
