Michela Giura Named
Salutatorian for Sacred
Heart Academy’s
Class of 2020
Sacred Heart Academy is proud to name Michela
Giura Salutatorian for the Class of 2020.
Michela is a New Hyde Park resident and attended
New Hyde Park Memorial before coming to Sacred
Heart Academy.
Michela was an accomplished athlete at Sacred
Heart. She was the co-captain for the Varsity
Track and Field team and was named the “Most
Valuable Runner.” Michela also played soccer as an
all-conference goalkeeper and received the “Most
Improved” Award at the 2019 Fall Sports Awards
Dinner at Sacred Heart Academy.
In addition, Michela should be commended for
her outstanding work in academics and service. She
is an AP Scholar and National Merit Commended
Scholar. She was involved in the Mission Club and
Chamber Chorus all four years at Sacred Heart. She
is a volunteer counselor-in-training at Camp Abilities
Long Island, an athletic camp dedicated to modifying
sports for children with visual impairments (not
affiliated with Sacred Heart).
Michela will be studying accounting at the
University of Notre Dame in the fall.
Maggie Maier Named
Valedictorian for
Sacred Heart Academy’s
Class of 2020
Sacred Heart Academy is proud to name
Maggie Maier Valedictorian for the Class
of 2020.
Maggie is an Atlantic Beach resident and
attended Long Beach Catholic before coming
to Sacred Heart Academy.
Margaret is an accomplished athlete and scholar at Sacred Heart. She had an
outstanding cross country and track and field career at Sacred Heart, being
named a two-time All-Long Island runner for cross country and captain for
the Varsity Cross Country/Track & Field teams. In addition, Maggie was part
of Sacred Heart’s Math Team, National Honor Society, Math Honor Society,
Spanish Honor Society, and Science Honor Society.
Maggie will be running cross country and track and field at the University of
Pennsylvania in the fall. Her major is undecided.
Margaret O’Connell
Named Valedictorian
for Sacred Heart
Academy’s Class of 2020
Sacred Heart Academy is proud to name
Margaret O’Connell Valedictorian for the
Class of 2020.
Margaret is a Rockville Centre resident and
attended St. Agnes Cathedral School before
coming to Sacred Heart Academy.
Margaret is an accomplished athlete and scholar at Sacred Heart. She is a
National Merit Commended Scholar and a member of the National Honor
Society, the Math Honor Society, and the Science Honor Society. She was also the
Speech and Debate Varsity Extemporaneous Captain. Margaret was captain of
the Varsity Swim Team and Varsity Badminton Team at Sacred Heart Academy.
Margaret will be studying civil engineering at the University of Notre Dame in the fall.
