Dear Funeral Services Industry Professionals,
Over the last two months, not an hour has gone by when I have not thought of you and the critical
role you are providing in the lives of the people and families in your communities.
As I began building Whitmore 30 years ago, servicing the needs of the Funeral Industry became
the not only the foundation of our company, it was our heart and soul.
I always admired, often with amazement, how Funeral Directors, and your staff’s, served your
clients and were unique leaders of your communities. Today, that admiration has escalated beyond
the point where words cannot adequately express the gratitude, and appreciation I have for you,
and what you do.
There is no war, natural disaster, or disease outbreak that can begin to compare to what you are
going through with this horrific virus.
The entire industry, from Funeral Directors to Livery Services, Casket Companies and
Crematoriums, to Trade Service providers is doing things you’ve never thought about or have done
before. In the New York Metro, the global epicenter of this pandemic, many of you have simply
been overwhelmed, and putting your lives at risk every day. With the number of calls and requests
for funerals and services, five to fifty times more than the busiest of times, the system and supply
lines understandably falter, and you have been under constant pressure physically, emotionally,
mentally, and financially.
Through all this I have seen heroic and caring behavior, above and beyond the call of duty, by you
and your staffs. I’m not alone in this observation and appreciate the local media outlets
highlighting your efforts and remarkable performance.
We at Whitmore are honored to acknowledge your Courage, Talent, and Dedication to serving us
as the ultimate Last Responders.
