    OPENING LINES
F Love always finds a way ebruary is the month of love, which makes the world go round,
so long as we remember that we need to both give it and be open
 to receiving it.
Our valentine to you, dear readers, is this month’s issue. We
proudly interviewed fascinating women, one being the newly
elected Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, who shares
her journey to the powerful position affecting an enormous
number of Nassau residents and the first woman to ever hold
the title in Long Island history. We also have profiles of the
nonprofit Long Island Girl Talk, which helps young women
 Victoria Schneps-Yunis
become media savvy, and LIU President Kimberly Cline, who’s growing the university
 by leaps and bounds.
This month, look for our special issue announcing the 2018 Bethpage Best of Long Island
contest winners. Supporters and winners alike will celebrate the results 6 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday, March 14 at The Inn at Fox Hollow, located at 7725 Jericho Turnpike in
Woodbury. We hope you will join our celebration.
Speaking of special issues, April brings with it our 15th annual Power List, featuring the
top 50 most influential Long Islanders. Stay tuned and see who made the list in years past
 at powerlist.longislandpress.com
While we’re doling out the love, we ask that you return the favor by liking Long Island
Press’ Facebook page, following us on Twitter and Instagram, and signing up for our
 email blast on longislandpress.com.
Stay warm and remember: Love makes the world go round — the more you give the more
 you get!
