ASTORIA’S CATS EYE MARCOM WINS FIVE AWARDS IN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION BY ANGY ALTAMIRANO One Astoria firm brought home the win and caught the eye of those in its industry. Cats Eye Marcom, a marketing, design and consulting firm based in the western Queens neighborhood, won five awards at the 12th Annual Horizon Interactive Awards, an international interactive media competition. The firm was recognized in four categories. It received Silver Awards in E-Commerce/Shopping for the BBES Lingerie website and Print for the Marathon Energy Brochure. It was also honored with Bronze Awards for Restaurant/Food Industry Website for Hell Gate Tiki and for Advocacy/Non-Profit websites for both The Dominic A. Murray 21 Memorial Foundation Inc. and Peter F. Vallone Jr. for Queens Borough President. 108TH PRECINCT NAMES NEW COMMANDING OFFICER BY ANGY ALTAMIRANO The 108th Precinct has a new top dog. Captain John F. Travaglia has been named the new commanding officer of the police precinct that covers Long Island City, Sunnyside, Woodside and Maspeth. He is replacing Captain Brian Hennessy, who on Nov. 6 became the commanding officer of the 115th Precinct. Travaglia began his career in the NYPD in 1993 at the 105th Precinct. Throughout the years, he has also served in the 113th and 104th precincts, and Patrol Borough Queens South, Patrol Borough Queens North, Highway District, Highway 3 and Queens South Narcotics Division. On Nov. 19, Travaglia tweeted from the 108th Precinct’s Twitter account saying, “As the new Commanding Officer of the #108pct, I look forward to working with the wonderful communities of #LIC #Sunnyside #Woodside #Maspeth.” Photo via Twitter/@NYPD110Pct John F. The panel of judges consisted of industry professionals with diverse backgrounds, as well as an end user panel that evaluated categories ranging from online advertising to mobile applications. ■NEWS
